Roy Fillyaw is a trusted real estate advisor with Smith & Associates Real Estate, Tampa Bay's premier locally owned luxury brokerage, serving buyers, sellers, and investors across the St. Petersburg and greater Tampa Bay area. Based in St. Pete, he pairs deep market knowledge with an eye for architecture and design to help clients find homes that truly fit their lifestyle. Before real estate, Roy built a career as a management and public sector consultant in Washington, D.C., advising senior government executives on complex, high-stakes decisions. That experience, combined with a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and dual master's degrees from Indiana University, shaped his analytical, data-driven approach and his ability to represent his clients with professionalism, confidence, and care. Today, Roy brings that same rigor to every transaction, whether he's guiding a first-time buyer through their largest investment yet, or helping a seasoned seller position a property in Tampa's competitive luxury market. Clients appreciate his calm, straightforward communication style, his knack for spotting opportunities, and his commitment to making the process feel organized, transparent, and genuinely enjoyable. Roy also has a strong foundation in climate resiliency and sustainable development, which informs how he evaluates properties along Florida's Gulf Coast. He's passionate about homes that are not only beautifully curated, but thoughtfully constructed for coastal living, from elevation and materials to long-term durability and livability. Water is Roy's happy place, and it's a huge part of why he chose to call St. Petersburg home. When he's not with clients, you'll likely find him having fun paddleboarding, diving, relaxing on a boat with friends, or exploring local beaches and wildlife preserves around Tampa Bay. He's also an active volunteer with local organizations such as Tampa Bay Watch, and rarely passes up a chance to get outside, play just about any sport, or catch a game, especially when his Texas A&M Aggies are playing. Originally from a small town in Texas, Roy's lived and worked across the U.S. But he ultimately found his forever home in St. Pete, where the sunshine, water, and community all align with how he likes to live life. For Roy, real estate is more than a career, it's a way to combine his love of design and architecture with how much he enjoys working with people. It's a privilege for Roy to connect his clients with homes and neighborhoods that feel like a true fit, and be a trusted advisor through one of the most meaningful decisions of their lives.
