Dr. Cecchi hails from western Canada, the son of Italian parents. Being in the United States since 1991, he became a US citizen in May of 2013. He obtained his B.A. in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College in 1995. He married Kathryn (Fallon) who is a native of Skaneateles, NY, and in 2003 graduated from Upstate Medical University Syracuse in the top 15% of his class. He went on to do his Preliminary Internal Medicine Internship at University Hospital in Syracuse and then completed his Ophthalmology residency training at Gesinger Medical Center in 2007. Looking to move back to the central/upstate NY area, he relocated to Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY, where he was Attending Ophthalmologist for 5 years. While there, he was the first to use refractive cataract surgery with implantation of multifocal intraocular lenses. More recently, in November of 2012, he acquired Dr. John Griffin’s practice based in Syracuse, NY.Dr. Griffin has since retired to spend more time with his family in San Francisco, CA.Since owning the practice he has brought in innovations for monitoring and screening of the eyes, as well as up to date techniques in refractive cataract surgery.His particular interest in the field is treatment of astigmatism and minimization through Peripheral Corneal Relaxing Incision (PCRI) and Femtosecond Laser assisted cataract surgery (ReLACS). He lives in Cazenovia, NY, with his wife Kathryn, and his four children. In his spare time he follows english football and loves portraiture.
