Her Clients From condos and beach cottages to record-breaking land sales, Galen has closed deals of all kinds with her trademark patience and focus on detail. Seeing the potential in a property, knowing the market, and developing trust with her clients are the keys to her success. Licensed in Rhode Island and Connecticut, Galen is among the most formidable brokers in the South County region. As a resident since 1990, her knowledge of the area qualifies her as a unique expert in the local housing market. Her Story Real estate was part of Galen's experience growing up. Her grandfather and mother were both Realtors® and her father was an attorney heavily involved in real estate in Maryland and Virginia. Real estate deals were just part of the scenery and routinely discussed by her family with great enthusiasm. Though she grew up in Maryland, Rhode Island has always been in her blood. As a third-generation summer resident of Matunuck, she proudly proclaims her three sons as the fourth generation to enjoy our wonderful beaches. In 1990, Galen began attending URI's graduate school in Natural Resources Science. Her head for both business and science has allowed her to earn her license as a septic inspector for both conventional and advanced systems. In her twenties, Galen bought her first house in RI and began working for the RI Department of Environmental Management and was employed in the environmental field for close to 25 years. She became an expert in issues affecting homeowners throughout Rhode Island and Eastern Connecticut, including water supply, water quality, and wastewater. As the Wastewater Manager in Portsmouth, her moniker was the "Wastewater Lady," but she likes her title as Broker Associate much better! Her Passions Travel is one of Galen's favorite pastimes. She loves to visit tropical islands, especially Bermuda because her mother was a Bermudian and family ties there go back to the 1700s. Galen's aunt and many cousins (including the reggae artist Collie Buddz) all reside there, and she visits often. Galen prides herself on preparation and hard work, as her athletic background can attest to. A college basketball player and captain of her college soccer team, she developed leadership skills that she uses in every transaction. Tennis runs through the Stone and McGovern genes. Her mother first came to the United States as a teenager to play the grass court circuit and her aunt was a teaching pro in Bermuda. Galen plays tennis regularly at Pond View in Westerly and she taught her three sons to play - all became First Team All-State tennis players at South Kingstown High School. You can often see Galen walking to work on Main Street or hiking with her dogs Sammy and Xena on area trails. Always ready to help with a worthy cause, you can also find her at the Peace Dale Congregational Church cooking at the weekly Dinner Table or volunteering for other community efforts there. Your Needs Galen is always available to speak with you about your goals and prides herself on creating a consistent flow of communication with updates and useful information. Possessing diverse skills, Galen also has experience as a newspaper reporter, editor, and writer with many published articles to her credit. Her keen sense of promotion and marketing is an essential part of her brand and plays a central role in getting clients to the closing table. When it comes to getting the most eyes on your property, she is ready to leverage RPL's full-service, in-house marketing for her sellers, from social media and strategic print advertising to targeted digital ad campaigns. She's here to talk.
