Unfortunately, after our father passed away their home was too much for our mother to care for on her own. This meant we needed to sell the house, which meant I needed a realtor I could work with from hundreds of miles away. After interviewing several agents in the Cambria area, Leslie stood out as the choice. She was straight forward about the positive and negative aspects of the house, what issues we had to/should consider addressing prior to listing, knowledgeable about the area market and buyers, and optimistic about pricing and timeframes without over promising. She also assured me that we would keep in constant communication without me having to be in Cambria. I of course needed inspectors, painters, gardeners, cleaners and various others you come in contact with when selling a home; Leslie had listings of recommendations for all the requests and also helped with coordination.
Leslie’s professionalism really shined once the house was on the market and offers came in. She helped us review each offer in detail, compare offers and made suggestions that helped us decide how to proceed as a family. The home sold quickly, with multiple offers and above asking price. This was a very difficult and prolonged sale requiring lots of tact and patience. Leslie also had to deal with a prickly agent on a domino transaction based on the transaction Leslie was handling. It was complicated and, at times, overwhelming in its complexity, but Leslie handled with equanimity. She is a professional through and through. As a real estate broker myself with very high standards, it was great working with this consummate professional.

Leslie is the fairy godmother of real estate! She helped me buy and sell my first home and helped me find an agent when I bought a home out of state. She reviewed my escrow documents even when she wasn't my agent (I bought in Colorado outside of her service area) and made sure I was understanding everything. Leslie signed on with me 10 years ago to purchase my first home when frankly no one else would bother with me because I didn't have a big budget. Leslie Dougherty is the absolute best broker and real estate agent there is! I wasn't even seriously looking when I bought my first home, but she knew what I wanted before I did. The second I walked into the home I said "let's put in an offer." This was when cash buyers ruled the market and FHA first time home buyers were being priced out. She coached me and helped me write a personal letter to the seller. Less than 24 hrs later I was in escrow! When certain FHA requirements needed to be met such as peeling paint on the fence Leslie and her husband painted the fence! A few years later when I was moving across the country, she helped me find the right buyer. Again, when last minute things happened and needed to be fixed Leslie stepped up and did it! She operates as more than your agent she truly cares about every single client as if they are family. Her calm demeanor can make what could be a stressful situation easy and helps her clients become knowledgeable about the process. I don't know of any other real estate professional who would drive 12+ hours in one day just to make a client happy or do a small errand in order to complete a transaction. The only reason I did not have her as my agent in my current home is because I bought in Colorado. However she did refer me to another agent, and I had another serendipitous 24 hr offer acceptance. When I had questions she was there to help me. She was the best advocate for me even when she wasn't getting paid. She is simply the best. The Fairy Godmother of real estate!
