Audrey Helminiak has been a licensed realtor since 1984. While she lives in Barrington, she has sold and listed all over Chicagoland, including Schaumburg, Park Ridge, Hoffman Estates, Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, Evanston, Chicago, Arlington Heights, Cary, Woodstock, Libertyville, Mundelein, Elgin, Glenview, Morton Grove, as well as Barrington. Audrey graduated from Carleton College in Minnesota with a Sociology/Anthropology degree. Audrey is a mother of two wonderful children, ages 18 and 12. Being a mother is the most rewarding experience, possibly due to being responsible for teaching your child everything for the first time. Similarly, my most rewarding real estate transactions involve working with first-time homebuyers because it is, again, my responsibility to teach them all the details of what to expect when you buy a home. Audrey feels her specialty is her ability to guide first-time homebuyers through each step of the entire home buying process, which she feels should be a FUN, EXCITING experience. "It's your first home. To me, this ranks right up there with weddings and the birth of a child. These all take a lot of preparation, but if done well, the preparation allows you to enjoy the big moment when it arrives!" When not working real estate and chauffering her kids, she is active with the Admissions Office of Carleton College, volunteering as a liaison to high school students while they are making their college choice, and with the Annual Alumni Fund Committee, challengiing her peers to donate back to the college to enable future students the same benefits that we enjoyed. She is a trustee at her church, Presbyterian Church of Barrington, sang in the choir, and co-coordinates the Meals With Wheels drivers each month. She has been the co-chair of her children's PTO Variety Show, coordinating over 40 acts and 250 kids. She has also been an active runner for over 45 years. In her past life, she used to figure skate, speed skate, dance in community theatre musicals, and appeared in commercials and movies as a background extra.
