My wife and I were thrilled when we heard that our daughter, son-in-law and grandsons were moving from the southwestern U.S. to Charlotte – much nearer to us in Jacksonville, Florida. Then we realized that both adults needed to find a new home to rent, and a school, within less than 60 days. How to make that happen?
I called some business contacts who live in Charlotte. One of them has a friend who works at Allen Tate, and she knew someone who knows Linda Slokenbergs – and they asked Linda to contact us. Within a couple of days of me reaching out to my friend, Linda was on the case. Over several weekends, our daughter and/or my wife and I came up from Jacksonville to hunt for options in Charlotte. Our first stop? Meeting with Linda. She listened patiently to our needs: a rental property in a safe neighborhood, a good elementary school, not too far to Uptown and the Charlotte airport, and a one-story (to accommodate a family member who uses a wheelchair), all within their budget. We went to what seemed like dozens of places. While we were away from Charlotte, Linda even went to see some properties on our behalf. And, just in time, on one of those whirlwind visits, she helped us find a home that ticked all our boxes. Linda was responsive, patient, and a great listener. She challenged us and offered advice when it was helpful. She understood our family’s needs completely. She never made us feel like we were imposing on her, even when we probably were. We know we wouldn’t have been able to achieve our ultimately great outcome without her help. We recommend her to anyone looking to move to or within Charlotte without reservation.
