Buying a home is a stressful adventure, and having a great realtor makes it a lot smoother. We actually had a team of two great realtors! I cannot recommend Khan Varnishung and Becky Lu highly enough. We were looking for a good buyer’s agent when it came to real estate, but most reviews only seemed to come from people who were selling houses. We had an uphill battle - when we were looking (Spring 2017.) Ten days was a long time for a house to be on the market. Most houses we liked sold within two or three days of being listed. Before we found Khan and Becky, the few times we bid on a house it went for at least $5k-10k OVER the asking price. It was without a doubt a seller’s market. The quick overview: 1. Listened and remembered what we wanted and what were deal breakers 2. Met us several times and showed us a number of houses as quickly and conveniently for us. 3. Spent hours (yes hours… at one place my father insisted on bringing survey equipment to measure the slope of a patio) with us looking at various houses. 4. Available whenever we had a question or a concern. 5. Showed us places that were not yet listed on the MLS 6. Offered insightful advice on each particular house, the seller, price, upcoming market, and a numerous other details 7. Arranged portfolios with specific details on each home we looked at, including statistical data that we requested they include (I’m a big fan of hard numbers - for example I can tell you the kilowatt hours of all the refrigerators we researched). When we began working with Khan and Becky, they immediately set up an appointment to meet with us. To get the ball rolling quickly, they drove out to meet us near my husband’s work during his lunch hour. When we had first talked with them, we described vaguely what we wanted in terms of location, square footage, and price range. They came to the meeting with a prepared portfolio of houses that fit our general description. Having combed through the MLS recently I was familiar with a number of the listings, and went through why we dismissed some and why we were interested in others. Here’s where they really stand out: they listened and remembered the things we thought were important. One difference between a realtor who’s good at helping you sell and one good at helping you buy is in the search. The market has a limited number of homes, this is true, but the main job of the realtor is to find those homes and bring them to you. You need to get Khan and Becky on your team. They are the best!
